WARNING:  THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING ON VARIOUS PROJECTS
Local 112 has recently recieved reports that some of our members have received excessive exposure to carbon monoxide.  One excessive exposure has resulted in a fatality.  Signatory companies are installing carbon monoxide detectors in their darkrooms to prevent future overexposures.  Please do not disable these detectors by removing batteries.  If these detectors are alarming, then there is a high probablity that the carbon monoxide levels are unsafe at that time.  Contact the company's safety officer immediatly when the detector is alarming.  Carbon monoxide cannot be smelled or detected by human senses.  Symptoms often present themselves many days after overexposure.  Click on the link below to read valuable information on the prevention, symptoms, and treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Union Purchases High Quality Laser Film Digitizer And Radiography Darkroom

In response to increasing demand for highly trained Radiographers, the training center acquired a film digitizer which will be used to produce a large library of radiographs which can be studied from any computer. We have 1000s of radiographs available for scanning at this time and we expect to take the digitizer around the country to acquire many more. This equipment is very high end and is used by hospitals in archiving medical radiographs. Randall Hughes, Tony Tidwell, and William Seaton have attended training offered by General Electric on the operation of this equipment.

New Classrooms Are Added And Facility Adds Multimedia Training

Two new classrooms have been outfitted.  This bring our total number to three.  They were recently needed.  During training season we will run three courses concurrently.  These tables have smoked glass tops and the chairs are well padded to assist the members in their classroom napping.

We have two big screen high definition LCD televisions which will be mounted in the facility.  These televisions will be outfitted to allow presentations via laptop.  Also they are outfitted with high definition DVD and VCR to allow multimedia content to be displayed.  They are the latest equipment acquired to present the highest quality of NDT training to our membership.
